Soon, users will be able to control their Windows 11 computers directly from their smartphones. Microsoft is testing a feature that allows remote shutdown and restart of PCs from Android devices, as reported by infohub.kz.
Developers are preparing an update for the Link to Windows mobile app, which connects Android smartphones to computers. Currently, the app lets you view notifications, read messages, and answer calls directly from your PC. The new option will enable you to remotely shut down, put to sleep, or restart your computer.
This feature will be useful for users who forget to turn off their PC before leaving home or the office. Additionally, the app's code contains references to special commands for installing pending operating system updates before shutdown or restart.
Microsoft has also included protection against accidental actions and pop-up warnings. For example, when sending the PC to sleep, the app will remind you that the connection between devices will be interrupted, and you'll only be able to wake the computer manually. The tool is currently in testing and not yet available to most users.
