Kazakhstanis are actively discussing a video taken on the roads of Almaty on social media. An unknown man pursued a woman and threatened her with an object resembling a weapon, reports infohub.kz.
The appeal of the Kazakh woman was published by the Instagram account kris_p_official. The woman said that on August 16, this car followed her from Dostyk Avenue to Al-Farabi Avenue. She then drove into a parking lot, where the driver blocked her path and pointed a weapon at her. "I don't know what he had in mind, but this is clearly the behavior of a sick or drunk person. The employees standing there did not react to this information at all. I ask law enforcement agencies to take measures against this driver," the Almaty resident wrote.
The Department of Police of Almaty responded to the publication. During monitoring of social networks, a video was identified in which an unknown person displays an object externally similar to a firearm. Officers of the police department of the Medeu district identified the person, detained him, and brought him to the police. It was established that the displayed object is a toy pistol and is not related to a firearm. Administrative proceedings were initiated against the offender for petty hooliganism. The materials were sent to court. In addition, administrative proceedings were initiated against the offender for violating traffic rules.
The police emphasized that demonstrating objects externally similar to weapons in public places—even if they are toys—is unacceptable. Such actions can provoke panic among citizens and require an immediate police response.
