Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry has established that a woman injured in an incident in Northern Cyprus is actually a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, reports infohub.kz.
Upon further verification, it turned out that the victim, a native of Kazakhstan, holds citizenship of the Kyrgyz Republic. This was officially stated by the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.
Earlier, information appeared online that a 22-year-old woman named Zhanerke Abdrazakova was in extremely serious condition after an armed attack at the Metropol Market supermarket in Nicosia. According to local police, on August 3 at approximately 11:45, an unknown assailant attacked her with a knife without apparent reason, then inflicted wounds on himself. Both victims were taken to a state hospital, where they remain under medical supervision.
The incident was commented on by Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry: diplomats are ascertaining the details and are in contact with local competent authorities. The ministry has taken the matter under its own control.
