In Atyrau, a brutal murder of a 42-year-old woman is under investigation. Her body was found next to her three-year-old daughter in their apartment, reports infohub.kz.

The tragedy occurred in the evening in a fifth-floor apartment. The victim's 16-year-old daughter returned home to find her mother's body in a pool of blood, with her younger sister sleeping nearby. The older daughter was in deep shock and couldn't approach her mother. The little girl initially stayed silent but later told police that "daddy stabbed mommy" and even demonstrated how it happened. She said: "Daddy hit mommy, mommy screamed. I cried. When I cried loudly, daddy ran away."

The main suspect is the victim's 38-year-old common-law husband, with whom she had lived for six years. Almagul Shmirova is survived by two older daughters who live separately and two younger ones who lived with her. She owned a small shop. Relatives still can't believe what happened and are struggling to understand the motive. The victim's mother, Fatima Shmirova, said: "We saw the photos. There were wounds on the front and back — 28 stab wounds. He stabbed without mercy. There's not a single intact spot on her back. He even cut her throat. I don't know how a person can do such a thing. It's barbaric. Let him get the punishment he deserves."

According to relatives, the man had caused scenes before, and the woman had called the police several times, but the troublemaker always returned and it happened again. The suspect was detained only four days after the murder. Official representative of the Atyrau Regional Police Department, Meirim Erdauler, confirmed: "A 38-year-old man, who was in a common-law marriage with the victim, has been detained on suspicion of murder during a domestic conflict and placed in a temporary detention facility. A criminal case has been opened on the charge of murder."

The girls left without a mother will be taken in by relatives.
