In Almaty, doctors at City Clinical Hospital No. 7 achieved the impossible: they saved a 34-year-old woman who fell from the ninth floor. The patient arrived in a coma and traumatic shock, but thanks to the efforts of medics, she was able to leave the hospital on her own two feet, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Almaty Public Health Department, the woman was hospitalized on an emergency basis. Doctors diagnosed her with severe traumatic brain injury, serious chest damage, multiple rib fractures, as well as pneumothorax and hemothorax. Additionally, fractures of the pelvic bones, femurs, and humerus were identified. Her condition was assessed as extremely severe, with a high risk of death.
Even in the ambulance, medics performed intubation and started anti-shock therapy. At the hospital, she received all necessary emergency care. A multidisciplinary team was assembled for her treatment, including anesthesiologists-resuscitators, traumatologists, neurosurgeons, surgeons, therapists, cardiologists, psychologists, and psychiatrists.
The patient underwent several operations on her upper and lower limbs. Two days later, doctors operated on her pelvic bones. At all stages of treatment, there was a high risk of complications, including thromboembolism and fat embolism. However, on the seventh day after admission, the woman was able to stand, and three days later she was discharged from the hospital in satisfactory condition. She now faces outpatient treatment and rehabilitation.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that City Clinical Hospital No. 7, where the patient was saved, is currently undergoing major renovations. Despite this, the hospital continues to operate normally.
