Starting September 2, Kazakhstan will add another women-only carriage. The new carriage will be part of Talgo train No. 81/82 on the Nurly Zhol–Oral route, connecting the capital with the West Kazakhstan Region. The decision was made due to high demand from female passengers, according to infohub.kz.
Train No. 81/82 runs every other day and makes nine stops. With the new carriage, the number of routes with women-only carriages will increase to 13.
Currently, women-only carriages are available on the following routes: Almaty-2–Mangystau; Almaty-2–Oskemen-1; Pavlodar–Turkistan; Mangystau–Semey; Atyrau–Nurly Zhol; Almaty-1–Aktobe; Nurly Zhol–Almaty-2; Nurly Zhol–Shymkent; Aktobe–Almaty-1; Almaty-2–Shymkent; Nurly Zhol–Semey; Oral–Mangystau; Nurly Zhol–Oral.
Women-only carriages allow female passengers and boys up to seven years old accompanied by adults. When purchasing tickets, passengers should look for the "ЖН" (women's carriage) marking. Ticket prices for women-only carriages are the same as regular fares.
The first women-only carriages were introduced in Kazakhstan in October 2021 on two routes: Almaty–Mangystau and Almaty–Oskemen.
