The world's largest fully electric aircraft has successfully completed a test flight, demonstrating impressive cost efficiency: 27 minutes in the air cost only $5 for electricity, according to infohub.kz.
Heart Aerospace conducted tests of its full-scale electric aircraft, the X1. The aircraft, weighing over 11 tons, took off from Plattsburgh International Airport in northern New York and reached an altitude of about 335 meters. With a wingspan of more than 32 meters, the X1 became the largest electric plane ever to fly.
The model is equipped with four electric motors powered by onboard batteries. During the flight, the aircraft consumed more than one megawatt of energy. This prototype will serve as the basis for the hybrid passenger aircraft ES-30, which will seat 30 passengers and is intended for regional air travel.
Company founder Anders Forslund noted that the successful flight proves the viability of electric propulsion in commercial aviation. The ES-30 is scheduled to enter service in 2031. The adoption of such technologies could reduce airline operating costs by more than 40% and make regional flights more accessible.
