The Los Angeles Public Library has unveiled the world's largest pop-up book, featuring three-dimensional illustrations, which has been officially entered into the Guinness World Records, the website infohub.kz reports.

The unusual exhibit, titled Luceros y Penumbras, was created specifically for the Central Library's centennial anniversary. Local artist Daniel González and paper engineer Matthew Reinhart worked on the project. They used traditional materials — heavy paper, fabric and glue — but scaled the familiar format of a children's book up to the size of an architectural structure.

When fully open, the giant book measures approximately 9.5 meters long and 6.1 meters wide, while its pop-up paper elements rise more than 3.3 meters high. The structure weighs about 816.5 kilograms. Guinness World Records experts recorded the measurements and confirmed the establishment of a new world record.

The exhibition is being held at the Richard J. Riordan Central Library. Visitors can see the giant pop-up book free of charge and also explore the library's historical collection, which includes more than two thousand interactive and pop-up books from around the world.
