The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is preparing sweeping sanctions against the International Criminal Court that could severely restrict the organization's operations. The Wall Street Journal reported this, citing American officials and documents, according to infohub.kz.
According to the newspaper, the new restrictions mark a sharp escalation of Washington's efforts to dismantle the International Criminal Court after it issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The new restrictions are reported to ban most transactions with the International Criminal Court after a transition period of six to seven months. In particular, the court could lose the ability to conduct dollar transactions, significantly limiting its access to the global financial system.
Recall that in 2024, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for the Israeli prime minister. In 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump imposed sanctions on the ICC for issuing an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.
In addition, a scandal recently erupted at the International Criminal Court: ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan, who issued the arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin, was first suspended from his post over sexual harassment allegations, and then the ICC's chief prosecutor was dismissed on the same charges.
