A World War II-era aerial bomb has been discovered in the German capital, prompting a state of emergency and mass evacuation, reports infohub.kz.
According to RBC, citing Berlin police, the ordnance was found in a navigable canal in the Neukölln district, located in the southwest of the German capital. Bomb disposal experts arrived at the scene promptly.
Local media report that a 500-meter exclusion zone has been established around the discovery site. Law enforcement officers evacuated residents of 5,600 households, as well as people in schools, nursing homes, and kindergartens.
The unexploded bomb weighs approximately 100 kilograms. Sappers are currently working to defuse it.
