Xiaomi has announced its new foldable smartphone, the Xiaomi 18 Fold, which sits between compact clamshells and larger book-style devices. The new model features the proprietary XRING O3 processor and a host of other innovations, as reported by Kursiv LifeStyle... according to infohub.kz.

The device is equipped with two OLED screens: a compact 5.38-inch display when folded, and a 7.58-inch display when unfolded. Both screens support a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and animations. The inner screen's brightness reaches 4000 nits, ensuring readability even in bright sunlight.

The aspect ratio of both displays is approximately 2:1. Xiaomi notes that this makes the keyboard wider when unfolded compared to standard devices with a 6.9-inch screen.

When unfolded, the smartphone is just half a centimeter thick, and when folded, it is just over a centimeter. The device weighs 219 grams, comparable to a chocolate bar. The body features a flat frame and an oval camera module. Available colors include black, red, and warm gold with white.

Performance is driven by the new XRING O3 chip. According to Xiaomi, the processor is 60% more powerful than the previous generation, and the graphics coprocessor, responsible for gaming and image processing, delivers an 85% performance boost. Under light loads, the chip consumes 25% less energy, contributing to longer battery life.

The main camera boasts a 200MP sensor. There is also a 50MP telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom for distant subjects and a 50MP ultra-wide camera for panoramic shots.

The 6000mAh battery ensures long usage times. It supports 67W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The smartphone also supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and UWB. It runs on HyperOS 4 based on Android 17.

Separately, Xiaomi will release a Ceramic Special Edition with a ceramic back panel instead of the standard finish. Limited to just 1,500 units, this version will come with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

For now, the Xiaomi 18 Fold is only available in the Chinese market. The company has not yet announced an official launch in Kazakhstan or other countries outside China.

Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle reported that Xiaomi introduced the new Ultra Thin magnetic power bank. Its key feature is a thickness of just 6mm and a weight of under 100 grams, making it nearly unnoticeable in hand and easy to attach to a smartphone.
