Chinese corporation Xinfa Group is preparing a project for the integrated development of the Kolzhat coal deposit in the Almaty Region, where around two thousand permanent jobs are expected to be created. Kazakhstan's President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev discussed the prospects for launching the project at a meeting with Xinfa Group President Zhang Guichun, infohub.kz reports.
The head of state noted the country's interest in attracting major investors ready to introduce modern technologies and develop production on a long-term basis. According to Toqaev, partnership with Xinfa Group, which has a full production chain in metallurgy and coal chemistry, fully aligns with Kazakhstan's industrial development priorities.
The Kolzhat deposit development project should become an example of a new quality of industrial cooperation between Kazakhstan and China. The president stressed that the development of reserves must be integrated — with the creation of an integrated chain including the production of semi-coke, hydrogen, synthesis gas and high-quality petroleum products.
The parties also separately discussed deepening cooperation in the field of critical materials. In turn, Zhang Guichun presented the holding's plans to expand its presence in the republic and thanked the head of state for supporting joint projects.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Chinese investors want to build two large plants worth $1.6 billion in the Abai Region.
