On September 1, rides in the service may cost more due to a shortage of cars: many people book rides to schools at the same time, and drivers who take their children to school may not be on the line. Yandex Go has shared when it is more profitable to book rides on Knowledge Day and what life hacks you can use to save money, reports the website infohub.kz.

Based on data on service usage last year, Yandex Go predicted the best times to book rides on September 1. On Knowledge Day, people actively book rides from 6:40 AM, so it is better to call a car 10-15 minutes earlier. The peak in orders is around 7:30 AM. Then there is a slight drop in demand until 7:50, and the cost of a trip at this time may be slightly lower. Demand for rides in the service usually decreases after 8:45 AM.

The final cost of a trip is influenced by the tariff chosen by the user, the distance to the destination, travel time, and the number of available cars on the line in your area: if there are more people wanting to leave than free drivers, the cost of a trip may be higher than usual. On the first day of school, many people simultaneously book rides to go to schools, and demand increases. Drivers also take their children to schools, and some of them may not be on the line. To balance the imbalance and attract more drivers to areas with increased demand, the service automatically enables a price multiplier. This is a temporary measure that allows those who urgently need to go to get a ride. The multiplier attracts more drivers to the line, and as soon as there are enough of them to provide rides for everyone, prices normalize.

In the Yandex Go app, there is a price index – a special indicator that shows in real time whether there are enough free cars on the line for current demand. It can be found in the upper left corner on the main screen of the app. If there are enough free cars on the line, the indicator will be green, and the price of the trip will be normal. If there are not enough cars, the index will be orange or red, and the cost of the trip will be higher than usual.

Yandex Go has tips that help save on trips even during periods of increased demand. For example, the app may suggest waiting a little longer for a car or walking a few minutes to the pickup point if there is a traffic jam or a difficult entrance to the yard. For the passenger, such a trip will be cheaper, and the driver will not waste extra time and will be able to take a new order faster.

A trip will be cheaper if you share it with a fellow traveler by choosing the "Together" tariff. It is important that a trip under the "Together" tariff can only be ordered for one person without large luggage – that is, two or three passengers ride in the car at the same time, each of whom has placed a separate order under the "Together" tariff. During periods of increased demand, you can also use public transport. The information is for reference only. Actual price dynamics and demand dynamics may differ.
