The Embassy of Japan in Kazakhstan is changing its visa document submission procedure in the coming days, reports infohub.kz.
Starting September 23, an electronic queue will be in operation for those seeking a visa. Tickets will be issued strictly on the day, and cannot be used later. Tickets can be obtained from 9:30, and documents must be submitted within 2.5 hours, by 12:00. Thus, Astana residents will have time to grab a coffee while waiting their turn.
The embassy clarified that the new system will apply only to document submission. Those visiting the diplomatic mission for an appointment or to collect a ready visa will have to line up in person.
"Due to the heavy workload on Mondays and Fridays, we recommend visiting the Embassy on other weekdays," the consular section noted.
Without a ticket, documents may be submitted in several exceptional cases: by invitation of the Japanese government or state institutions, for a medical visa, and by verbal note.
It is worth noting that the processing and issuance of a Japanese entry visa are free for CIS citizens. It is valid for three months and takes five working days to process. The embassy warns that working on a tourist visa is prohibited.
