Yedil Medeu, Chairman of the Management Board of the Central Securities Depository (KCSD), will leave the company on September 1, 2026. He has served on the depository's board for more than five years, reports infohub.kz.
Medeu joined KCSD in June 2021 as Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, overseeing strategy, business development, depository operations, risk management, international cooperation, and communications. In March 2025, he became head of the financial institution.
Before joining KCSD, the top manager had accumulated 17 years of experience in the financial sector, having worked at the Agency for Regulation and Supervision of the Financial Market, the Financial Supervision Committee of the National Bank, the National Bank of Kazakhstan itself, and the Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market.
Under Medeu's leadership, the depository achieved record results. In 2025, KCSD's net profit exceeded 2 billion tenge for the first time, with a return on equity of about 20%.
By the end of the first half of 2026, compared to the beginning of 2025, the volume of local instruments under custody, excluding state shareholdings, grew by 45%, and foreign instruments by 16%. The number of brokerage accounts in the KCSD system reached 5.6 million.
Since the beginning of 2022, the number of foreign securities issues under custody has grown by 367% to 1,584, and the number of financial organizations in the client base has increased by 141% to 128 companies from 11 countries. The share of non-residents and AIFC participants exceeded 62%, the company said.
During this period, KCSD established direct depository and correspondent relationships with global banks and depositories in the United States, the Gulf countries, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Tajikistan.
"Working at KCSD has been an important professional milestone for me. Over five years, together with the team, we implemented projects that expanded the capabilities of Kazakhstan's capital market and strengthened international ties and the regional role of the Central Depository," Medeu noted.
The Central Securities Depository is the main financial organization that stores securities in electronic form and keeps records of who owns them.
In simple terms, it is a reliable bank for stocks, bonds, and other assets. When you buy a security on the exchange, the record that it is yours appears in the Central Depository.
