Kazakhstan added to its medal haul in sprint canoeing at the 2026 Asian Games as Sergey Yemelyanov and Rufina Iskakova took bronze in the mixed canoe double 500 meters, infohub.kz reports.
The Kazakh crew covered the distance in 1 minute 51.124 seconds, a result that earned them third place.
Gold in the event went to China's Wu Shengyue and Ma Yanan. The silver medals were claimed by Uzbekistan's Vladlen Denisov and Nilufar Zokirova.
In the equivalent kayak event, Kazakhstan's Olga Shmelyova and Artyom Tereshchenko finished just off the podium in fourth place.
China's Li Chenhao and Zhang Luxi won that race. South Korea's Choi Min-kyu and Seong Min-ju took silver, while Japan's Rin Fukuda and Akihiro Inoue claimed bronze.
With that, Kazakhstan's team has won six medals in the sprint kayak and canoe events at the 2026 Asian Games: one silver and five bronze.
