Kazakh gymnasts Akmaral Yerekesheva and Aibota Yertaikyzy placed fourth and fifth in the individual all-around final at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, infohub.kz reports.

Over four routines, Yerekesheva scored 108 points, finishing 1.200 points short of the bronze medal. The Kazakh gymnast earned 28.900 for hoop, 27.300 for ball, 25.200 for clubs and 26.600 for ribbon.

Yertaikyzy finished the final in fifth place with 106.200 points. Her scores were 27.250 for hoop, 26.450 for ball, 25.700 for clubs and 26.800 for ribbon.

The title went to 2022 Asian Games champion and 2026 Asian all-around champion Takhmina Ikromova of Uzbekistan (112.950). China's Wang Qi took silver (110.050), and her compatriot Wang Zilu claimed bronze (109.200).

In qualifying, Yerekesheva posted the best score of all the competitors, 111.350, while Yertaikyzy finished fourth with a total of 106.550.

The group all-around final is also scheduled for today. The Kazakh team qualified for the decisive round in first place.

The XX Summer Asian Games in Japan officially opened on September 19. Athletes from 45 countries are competing for 460 sets of medals. Kazakhstan's team at the 2026 Asian Games comprises 558 athletes in 35 sports.
