As part of the XXIV meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, Yerlan Karin, Vice President and Head of the Congress Secretariat, held a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of global religious organizations. The participants discussed the agenda of the upcoming meeting, further cooperation and participation in future events, infohub.kz reports.
At a meeting with Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, his many years of personal contribution to the establishment of the Congress and the development of interreligious dialogue were noted. Yerlan Karin emphasized the importance of his participation in promoting the ideas of peace, mutual respect and harmony.
Abdulrahman Moussa, Adviser to the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar on International Cooperation, conveyed greetings and good wishes from the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar to President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev. The talks also covered prospects for developing Kazakhstan's cooperation with Al-Azhar, including in the fields of religious education, enlightenment and interreligious dialogue.
With Abdulrahman Abdullah Al-Zaid, Deputy Secretary-General of the World Muslim League, the League's many years of participation in the Congress and its contribution to the development of interreligious dialogue were reviewed. Yerlan Karin noted the importance of continued support for the forum's activities and its practical initiatives.
At a meeting with Bishop Jo Bailey Wells, Deputy Secretary-General of the Anglican Communion, the Communion's many years of participation in the Congress and her personal contribution to the development of the forum were noted. Hopes were also expressed that Archbishop of Canterbury Sarah Mullally would take part in the IX Congress, which will be held in Astana in 2028.
The foreign participants also congratulated Kazakhstan on the adoption of the new Constitution.
