Police in the town of Yesil in Akmola Region have detained a 49-year-old local resident who, according to law enforcement, got behind the wheel drunk again despite a court order stripping him of his driving rights. The news was reported by infohub.kz.
The press service of the Akmola Region Police Department said the man had driven to a cafe with a friend to buy food. He was moderately intoxicated, which was later confirmed by a medical examination.
The department noted that the man had previously been held liable for driving under the influence. In January 2025, he was stopped again for the same violation and was banned from driving for seven years by a court decision.
A pre-trial investigation is currently underway. Under the sanction of the article, driving while intoxicated by a person deprived of driving rights carries a fine of up to 5,000 monthly calculation indices (more than 21 million tenge), correctional or community service, or restriction or imprisonment for up to five years.
