Kazakhstan's second-ranked women's singles player, Yulia Putintseva, lost in the quarterfinals of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) 250 tournament in Iasi, Romania, reports infohub.kz.
Putintseva, ranked 82nd in the world and seeded ninth, faced Egypt's Mayar Sherif, ranked 97th. The match went three sets, with Putintseva falling 2-6, 6-3, 6-7 (5-7).
The players spent 3 hours and 10 minutes on court. During that time, Putintseva hit one ace, committed one double fault, and converted six of nine break points. Thus, she ended her tournament run in the quarterfinals.
