Kazakh tennis player Yulia Putintseva commented on her first-round victory at the US Open, where she defeated Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, reports infohub.kz.
Putintseva, ranked 84th in the world, faced Bencic, who is the 12th seed and Olympic champion from Tokyo. The match lasted three sets and ended with a comeback win for the Kazakh player, 4:6, 7:5, 6:3. The two spent 2 hours and 51 minutes on court.
"At some point, Andy Roddick woke up in me. I don't know where those aces came from. I kept feeling like I was serving close to the lines but not hitting them. Then I started hitting them. Hopefully, I can continue like this," Putintseva joked in her on-court interview.
It is worth noting that in the decisive set, Putintseva hit five aces.
