Kazakhstan's No. 2 women's singles player, Yulia Putintseva, secured victory in her latest match at the 2026 Asian Games, infohub.kz reports.
In the second-round encounter, the Kazakh tennis player faced Ya-Yi Yang of Chinese Taipei. The match ended in a straight-sets win for Putintseva, 6-3, 6-1.
The Kazakh took the first set 6-3. In the second, her dominance became even more pronounced: she allowed her opponent just one game and closed out the match.
The players spent 1 hour 28 minutes on court. Putintseva thus continues her pursuit of a medal in the women's singles at the Asian Games. The name of her next opponent will be known later.
Putintseva is one of Kazakhstan's leading tennis players. In addition to her singles campaign, she will also compete in doubles alongside Anna Danilina.
The XX Summer Asian Games are being held in Aichi Prefecture and the city of Nagoya. The competition will conclude on October 4.
