Renowned Russian journalist Yuri Dud has once again reached out to his Kazakh audience, asking followers to recommend national dishes to try during his next visit, reports infohub.kz.
On his Instagram account, Dud posted a clip from an interview with blogger Ruslan Usachev, recorded in 2021 during a trip to the Mangystau region. In the video, the journalist and blogger taste shubat near Aktau and visit the Bozzhyra tract. In the caption, Dud asked followers about Kazakh cuisine.
"Friends not from Kazakhstan, have you tried it? Share your impressions! Friends from Kazakhstan, suggest what else from the local cuisine to try when I get the chance!" he wrote.
During that trip, Dud and Usachev ordered shubat from local residents rather than buying it in a store. The journalist explained that they were advised to get the fresh drink from trusted people. "When people talk about Kazakhstan, they first think of kumis. But there is another milk. This is shubat — camel milk," Dud said in the video.
He also shared his impressions of the drink: "Shubat from yesterday's milking, they say, cures just about all diseases. Cheers," the journalist noted. After tasting, Ruslan Usachev compared the flavor of shubat to kefir, and Dud agreed, giving the drink a positive review.
The new post reminded followers of the journalist's past trip. Kazakh users are actively suggesting various local dishes for his next visit. Whether Dud will come to Kazakhstan again is still unknown. Earlier, in an interview with Alexander Nezlobin, the journalist admitted that he fears coming to the country due to possible extradition to Russia, where a criminal case has been opened against him. In 2022, the Russian Ministry of Justice included Dud in the register of foreign agents.
