A Moscow district court has ordered the in absentia arrest of journalist Yury Dud in a case involving public calls for terrorism, according to infohub.kz.
According to the press service of Moscow's courts of general jurisdiction, the arrest was ordered for two months — from the moment the defendant is handed over to Russian law enforcement in the event of extradition, or from the moment of his detention on Russian territory.
"The court ordered his detention for two months from the moment he is handed over to Russian law enforcement in the event of extradition or from the moment of his detention on Russian territory. The charge against him (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) carries a prison term of five to seven years," the statement said.
The well-known journalist Yury Dud, who had already been convicted in absentia in the Russian Federation, has thus had his punishment toughened.
Recall that in November 2025, the journalist was sentenced in absentia to one year and ten months in a penal colony for evading the duties of a foreign agent.
Later, in one of his videos, Yury Dud admitted that he had stopped visiting Kazakhstan because of the risk of detention.
