Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said that Volodymyr Zelensky's plane nearly collided with an unmanned aerial vehicle while departing Moldova. The head of the Norwegian government made the statement on NRK television and radio, according to infohub.kz.
"His plane almost collided with a drone when it was supposed to take off from Moldova. This is the reality he lives in," the politician said. He did not specify where he got this information.
The publication also notes that it is unclear whether this was an accident or a deliberate assassination attempt on Zelensky.
"Yesterday there was a drone threat in Moldovan airspace that delayed Zelensky's plane en route to Oslo. These are the threats he lives with every day. It is unknown how close the drones were to his plane," the Norwegian Prime Minister's Office said.
Moldovan police reported finding a downed drone equipped with a power unit. Upon impact with the ground, an explosion occurred, leaving a large crater.
According to RBC-Ukraine, Moldova's Ministry of Defense confirmed the violation of the country's airspace precisely during Zelensky's departure.
Due to the threat, the Starokozache border crossing also had to be temporarily closed.
The Ukrainian side has not yet commented on the incident.
