Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he is ready to fly to Miami to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin if the United States invites the Russian leader to the Group of Twenty summit, infohub.kz reports.
In an interview with Deutsche Welle, the Ukrainian leader spoke about his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who visited Kyiv for the first time since the war began. According to Zelensky, they discussed energy, grain, and the first steps toward de-escalation.
"Maybe someone doesn't like the phrase 'ceasefire.' I don't care whether someone likes it or not: we love life, we want peace. And that is why we say: okay, you don't like the word 'ceasefire'? Let's say 'truce,' 'silence regime' — it doesn't matter. Anything that can lead us to some kind of negotiations. So energy and grain are step number one. That's what we can achieve," the Ukrainian president said.
Responding to journalists' questions about what would happen if the U.S. invites Russian President Vladimir Putin to take part in the G20 summit, which will be held on December 14–15 in Miami, Zelensky said he would come there to talk with Putin.
"I will come. We need to meet, talk, and make a decision. It's not about words — it doesn't matter what I say to him or he says to me. Only the result matters. Only the result matters. And that's it," the Ukrainian leader said.
