Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in his Telegram channel that he has dismissed Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, reports infohub.kz.
The president appointed Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi as the new commander-in-chief.
"I have decided that the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be Mykhailo Drapatyi. Together with Mykhailo, Yevhen Khmar, and Pavlo Palisa, we have determined how the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine should be reorganized," Zelensky said.
He expressed gratitude to Syrskyi for his work as commander-in-chief.
"Oleksandr Syrskyi achieved important results for Ukraine during the defense of Kyiv, the Kharkiv counteroffensive, and the Kursk operation. We have come a long way, the defense of Ukraine continues, and every soldier deserves respect. I am grateful to Oleksandr Syrskyi and each of our soldiers for Ukraine's strong positions at the front. I am grateful to Mykhailo Drapatyi for sharing this vision," Zelensky said.
