Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a statement following a massive attack on the country's energy facilities and appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump, according to infohub.kz.
In a post on X, Zelensky said that overnight, 39 ballistic missiles and more than 120 strike drones and unmanned combat vehicles were used against energy facilities and critical infrastructure in Kyiv, Kyiv Oblast, and Kharkiv.
"This was a deliberate strike by Russian ballistic missiles specifically on energy facilities — the very infrastructure covered by the ceasefire announced by the U.S. president. This strike was fully intentional and demonstrative in its scale — Russia has never before shown such blatant disrespect for the United States. Russia does not consider the American president's statements strong enough," the Ukrainian president wrote.
According to him, at least 600,000 people were left without electricity as a result of the attacks. Moreover, power outages could become even more widespread.
"We call on President Trump to impose severe sanctions on Russia, especially since the recently passed and signed Lindsey Graham bill allows this and regulates the relevant measures. The U.S. president has powerful and sufficient tools to bring peace through strength, justice, and pressure on the aggressor," Zelensky added.
In addition, he also requested additional packages of anti-missile missiles for Patriot systems for Ukraine.
Recall that the U.S. president recently said that Russia and Ukraine had allegedly agreed to an energy ceasefire. After that, Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of violating the energy ceasefire.
