Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia must stop striking Ukraine's energy sector and exports before further de-escalation steps can be taken, according to infohub.kz.
On X, Zelensky backed a post by White House head Donald Trump, who wrote about the need to end the war in Ukraine. The Ukrainian leader also outlined steps that could help pause the escalation of the conflict with Russia.
"A dialogue with President Trump and the US is ongoing. Ideas that could bring peace closer are also being considered, starting with decisive de-escalation steps. Ukraine's energy sector, critical infrastructure and our food exports must stop being targets for Russia, and this will push us toward corresponding de-escalation steps. Decisions are possible," Zelensky wrote.
The president specified that the Ukrainian side will discuss the issue with partners on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Recall that over the past weekend, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said Ukrainian forces carried out the largest attack on the Russian capital, damaging a refinery in Kapotnya, among other sites.
Media later reported that Donald Trump again demanded Zelensky stop attacks on refineries in Russia. Trump himself said Russia has lost control over diesel production because of the war with Ukraine.
