In the sixth round of the Russian Premier League (RPL), Zenit St. Petersburg defeated Voronezh's Fakel 1-0 away, reports infohub.kz.
The match, held at the Fakel stadium, ended in a win for the visitors thanks to a goal from a penalty in the third minute of second-half stoppage time. The decisive strike was converted by Russian forward Alexander Sobolev.
It is worth noting that Zenit achieved success while playing a man down: on the 85th minute, defender Igor Diveev received a straight red card.
Kazakhstani defender Nuraly Alip started for the St. Petersburg side and played all 90 minutes. During the game, he made 73 passes, 59 of which were accurate.
With this victory, Zenit earned 12 points and moved up to second place in the standings, though they may drop lower after the round. Moscow's Spartak and CSKA have the same number of points. Krasnodar leads with a maximum 18 points. Fakel, with two points, occupies the last, 16th place.
