In the second round of the group stage of the Russian Cup 2026/27, St. Petersburg's Zenit defeated Samara's Krylia Sovetov on penalties away, reports infohub.kz.

The match in Group C of the RPL Path took place at the Solidarnost Samara Arena. Regular time ended goalless — 0:0.

According to the regulations, a penalty shootout was held immediately after the draw. In it, the visitors' goalkeeper Bogdan Moskvichev saved one of the hosts' attempts, allowing Zenit to win the shootout 5:3.

Kazakhstan national team defender Nuraly Alip started for the St. Petersburg side and played the entire match, not participating in the post-match kicks.

Kazakhstan winger Islam Chesnokov was not included in Krylia Sovetov's squad. Earlier it was announced that he had moved from Kostanay's Tobol on loan.

Thanks to the penalty shootout victory, Zenit earned five points after two rounds and topped the group standings. Krylia Sovetov follow with four points. Also in Group C are Makhachkala's Dynamo and Kaliningrad's Baltika.
