Law enforcement in Kazakhstan's Zhambyl Region have busted a criminal group suspected of cattle theft. The case files have been sent to court, infohub.kz reports.

According to the prosecutor's office's official website, a joint operation by prosecutors and police in the Sarysu district identified a group of three people suspected of stealing livestock.

"It was established that between October 10, 2025 and March 7, 2026, these individuals, acting at night, stole 23 head of cattle worth a total of 11.5 million tenge by driving them off pastures," the Zhambyl Region prosecutor's office said.

The damage caused to the victims has now been fully compensated.

The criminal case, filed under Part 3, Clause 1 of Article 188-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, has been sent to court for consideration on the merits, along with the indictment.

In addition, the court handed down a guilty verdict against another individual who stole 3 head of cattle. Taking into account the nature and degree of public danger of the crime, he was sentenced to actual imprisonment.

In total, 9 livestock theft crimes have been registered in the district this year, of which 7 have been solved — a rate of 77.7%.
