Law enforcement authorities in the Zhambyl Region have identified and detained four suspected organizers of an illegal migration channel, infohub.kz reports.
According to NUR.KZ, citing the regional prosecutor's office, an interagency investigative and operational group was formed by the Korday District Prosecutor's Office, involving officers from the National Security and Internal Affairs bodies, to crack down on illegal migration.
As a result of a coordinated series of investigative and operational measures, 10 citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan who had illegally crossed the state border of the Republic of Kazakhstan outside designated checkpoints were identified in Almaty between May and July of this year.
Four people — three citizens of Kazakhstan and one citizen of Kyrgyzstan — were exposed and detained on suspicion of organizing the illegal migration channel.
"According to the pretrial investigation materials, a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic escorted foreign nationals to the state border, after which accomplices met them on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and ensured their further transportation to Almaty," the Zhambyl Region prosecutor's office said.
All suspects have been placed under arrest as a preventive measure. A pretrial investigation is underway under Part 2 of Article 394 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
