A woman in Kazakhstan's Zhambyl Region has alleged that her child was physically abused at a kindergarten, and a pre-trial investigation is now underway, the website infohub.kz reports.

Writing on Instagram under the handle albina_aman__, the resident of Kordai village said the incident involving her son took place at a kindergarten on October 5. According to the woman, the child was allegedly subjected to physical force, and the incident was captured on surveillance cameras.

"On the day we picked up our son from kindergarten with visible signs of physical impact, the staff told us that a fight had broken out between the children. In the following days, the same people claimed that an employee had been separating the children and accidentally touched the child. And only on October 8, after we repeatedly demanded to see the surveillance footage, did they send us this video, and after watching it we immediately called the police," NUR.KZ quoted her as saying.

The woman questioned why her family was not told the true circumstances of the incident for several days. In her post, she asked the region's prosecutor's office and police to take the case under supervision.

NUR.KZ's correspondent was told by the press service of the Zhambyl Region Police Department that a pre-trial investigation is being conducted under the article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on "improper performance of duties in the upbringing of a minor."

"The necessary investigative measures are currently ongoing, aimed at comprehensively, fully and objectively establishing all the circumstances of what happened," the police assured.

A procedural decision will be made based on the results of the investigation, the report notes.
