On the evening of October 31, a conflict broke out among minors in the village of Birlesu-Yenbek in Zhambyl District, Zhambyl Region, leaving one of them hospitalized and prompting a criminal case, the website infohub.kz reports.
The Telegram channel Halyqstan was the first to report the incident. According to the injured teenager's relatives, he was struck for arriving late to a meeting. They claim an informal hierarchy exists in the village, with older youths allegedly ordering younger ones around, collecting money from them and punishing them for disobedience or lateness. That account has not been officially confirmed.
The Zhambyl Region Police Department told a NUR.KZ correspondent that a criminal case has been opened over the incident. "It has been preliminarily established that a conflict occurred between two minors who knew each other previously. The victim was hospitalized. All those involved in the incident have been detained and taken to police. The investigation is ongoing. Allegations of alleged extortion are also being checked," the department said.
The investigation is being overseen by the leadership of the Zhambyl Region Police Department.
