A village resident in southern Kazakhstan has alleged that the head of a public service center (PSC) opened fire near his home. The Zhambyl Region Police Department commented on the matter, according to infohub.kz.

Kazakh lawyer Gabit Umirbekov addressed the head of the Zhambyl Region Police Department, Kaisar Sultanbayev, on his personal Instagram page. The lawyer's remarks were reported by Kazinform news agency.

According to Gabit Umirbekov, the events were preceded by a conversation about a debt — during the day, a resident of Kyzylsharua village in the Tura Ryskulov district named Aset allegedly met with the head of the local PSC and asked him to return the money.

"At night, as the author of the appeal claims, the official came to the villager's home and fired a gun. Umirbekov suggests the man may have been intoxicated. The lawyer also cites surveillance camera footage showing the man driving an official vehicle. According to him, Aset is now afraid to leave his home," the publication said.

A NUR.KZ correspondent sent a request to the press service of the Zhambyl Region Police Department.

"In connection with this incident, police officers identified a 56-year-old man who violated the nighttime peace and fired a weapon-like object. The offender was held administratively liable under Part 1 of Article 485 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. A hunting rifle of the TOZ-34R brand, 12th caliber, registered in his name, was confiscated. In addition, preventive explanatory work was conducted with the man on preventing offenses and complying with legal requirements," police commented.
