Zhamilya Bakbergenova, the leader of Kazakhstan's women's wrestling team, won a silver medal at the international ranking tournament in Budapest, Hungary, reports infohub.kz.
The competition in the 72 kg weight class used a round-robin format, where each bout was crucial. The Kazakh athlete started the tournament confidently, winning two matches in a row — first against Kyrgyzstan's Kayyrgul Sharshebaeva, then against India's Diksha Malik.
The gold medal was decided in the final bout. The match against Poland's Wiktoria Chołuj was decisive, but this time the opponent proved stronger.
