A brawl escalated into gunfire in Zharkent, Panfilov District, Zhetisu Region, leaving a 33-year-old man hospitalized with a gunshot wound after one of the participants used a firearm. This was reported by infohub.kz.
According to the Zhetisu Region Police Department, the incident occurred in Zharkent. Criminal cases have been opened for hooliganism and attempted murder.
"It was preliminarily established that a conflict arose between men who knew each other, during which one of the participants used a firearm. As a result, a 33-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound and was hospitalized," the press service of the Zhetisu Region Police Department said.
During the investigation, the firearm was seized. Two suspects have been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.
The department also refuted information circulating in publications about the ownership of the weapon. "Information that the firearm used belongs to a person associated with government agencies is untrue," police added.
Police reminded that spreading knowingly false information is a criminal offense punishable by up to 7 years in prison.
The investigation is under the supervision of the leadership of the Zhetisu Region Police Department.
