Police in the Aksu district of Kazakhstan's Zhetisu region have solved the theft of a registered hunting weapon: a "Vepr-KM VPO-136" rifle was stolen from a local resident's home, and the suspect — an 18-year-old resident of the Sarkand district — has been placed in a temporary detention center, infohub.kz reports.

According to the regional police department's official Instagram page, officers in the Aksu district solved the theft of a registered hunting weapon.

Investigators established that a "Vepr-KM VPO-136" hunting rifle was stolen from a local resident's home.

During operational search activities, police identified an 18-year-old resident of the Sarkand district as being involved in the theft. He had previously worked for the victim and taught him horseback riding.

"As it turned out, taking advantage of the owner's absence, the young man entered the house and found the rifle behind a safe. He then stole the weapon and transported it to his home," the Zhetisu regional police department said.

As a result of operational measures, police located the stolen rifle. The weapon was found and seized as material evidence.

In addition, the rifle's owner was held administratively liable for violating the rules on storage and circulation of civilian weapons.

The suspect has been placed in a temporary detention center. An investigation is underway.
