A resident of the Zhetisu Region expected to earn 10,000 to 15,000 tenge a day for providing his bank account to a third party, but his plans were not meant to be — instead of income, he ended up in the dock, infohub.kz reports.

According to the official Telegram channel of the Zhetisu Region courts, the Karatal District Court heard a criminal case against a defendant accused of unlawfully providing a third party with the opportunity to use his bank account for material reward or property benefit (Part 1 of Article 232-1 of the Criminal Code).

The court established that on May 5 of this year, the defendant received a WhatsApp message on his mobile number from an unknown person. The man offered him material reward to open a bank account in his own name and provide a third party with the opportunity to use it. Such actions effectively allow a bank account registered to another person to be used for monetary operations, including transferring funds between accounts and concealing their origin.

On the same day, the defendant agreed to the offer, after which he changed the mobile phone number linked to his bank account and handed that number to the person who made the offer. He then linked that number to his bank account in the mobile banking app, entered it in the app, and performed the necessary actions to give a third party access to the bank account registered in his name. For these actions, the man expected to receive material reward of 10,000 to 15,000 tenge per day, but due to circumstances beyond his control, he did not receive the money.

At the court hearing, the defendant fully admitted his guilt and expressed sincere remorse for his actions.

When imposing the sentence, the court considered the defendant's admission of guilt and sincere remorse as circumstances mitigating criminal liability and punishment. The court found no circumstances aggravating criminal liability and punishment.

In addition, the court took into account that the defendant had not previously been held criminally liable.

By the court's verdict, he was found guilty of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 232-1 of the Criminal Code and was sentenced to a fine of 86,500 tenge.

The verdict has not entered into legal force.
