A court in Kazakhstan's Zhetisu region has returned more than 2,300 hectares of agricultural land to the state from a privately held company with foreign ownership, infohub.kz reports.

According to the Prosecutor General's Office's official Telegram channel, the returned plots are valued at about 50 million tenge. The land had been unlawfully held by a legal entity whose founders were three Iranian citizens.

"An analysis of compliance with land legislation established that the founders of the legal entity holding the said land plots were three Iranian citizens. The plots are located in Eskeldi district and were granted in violation of the requirements of Kazakhstan's Land Code," the Prosecutor General's Office said.

To protect state interests, the Eskeldi district prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit seeking the return of the land to state ownership. The court granted the claim. The ruling has not yet entered into force.

Across the region, prosecutorial measures have returned more than 41,100 hectares of land to the state, with a total value exceeding 1.7 billion tenge.
