Zinedine Zidane has been officially unveiled as the new head coach of the French men's national football team, according to infohub.kz.
The 54-year-old has signed a four-year contract. He replaces Didier Deschamps, who had been in charge since 2012 and led France to victory in the World Cup and Nations League.
At a press conference after the formal presentation, Zidane expressed respect for Deschamps and the federation's leadership. 'I have often said that nothing is more important than the France national team. I feel great joy and pride in becoming its head coach. But it also carries great responsibility,' he said.
This marks the end of a five-year hiatus in the Frenchman's coaching career. In 2021, he left Real Madrid, where he led the club to three Champions League titles and other trophies.
During his playing career, Zidane became one of the most decorated footballers of his generation. He won the Champions League, World Cup, and European Championship. In 1998, he received the Ballon d'Or.
