A sharp cold snap is expected in the northern regions of Kazakhstan after a prolonged heatwave, reports infohub.kz.

The cause is a northwestern cyclone, which will bring rain with thunderstorms, heavy precipitation in places, possible hail and squally winds. Daytime temperatures in the northern regions will drop to +25…+30°C.

At the same time, the south and east of the country will continue to experience hot and mostly dry weather. Warm air masses from Uzbekistan continue to flow into these areas. In the south, temperatures could reach +40…+45°C, and in the east, +33…+38°C.

No significant temperature changes are expected in the rest of the country.
