Aktau Utility Workers Protest Director's Dismissal, Demand Reinstatement
Employees of the "Caspian Heating and Water Canal" state enterprise in Aktau have voiced strong opposition to a planned change in leadership, rallying to demand the reinstatement of their current director, Tanash Uskenov.
Support for Director Uskenov
The collective gathered in front of the enterprise building, expressing their desire to keep Uskenov in his position. According to the employees, an order to dismiss the director was slated for March 2nd. They highlighted significant positive transformations within the enterprise since Uskenov took the helm, including salary increases and improved working conditions.
One employee shared, "If he returns to leadership, we won't have to worry about our salaries; we'll be confident about the future. That's why all employees have come out. We demand our director be returned to his post."
Another staff member, who has worked at the enterprise since 2002, echoed this sentiment, noting that the company has seen numerous leadership changes in the past. "Since Mr. Uskenov arrived, many changes have occurred: equipment has been updated, salaries have increased, and all conditions have been created for employees. Therefore, it's unclear why they want to remove him. We have new projects and plans to increase salaries by 30-40 percent. The workers' conditions are good, so it's unknown why they want to remove him. We demand his return to the leadership position!"
Future Plans and Past Record
The employees are planning to approach the akimat (local government) to discuss the issue. Reports indicate that Tanash Uskenov has been serving as the head of the "Caspian Heating and Water Canal" state enterprise since September 2024. Following his appointment, information emerged regarding a previous conviction for fraud.
The staff are determined to advocate for their director, believing his continued leadership is crucial for the enterprise's future development and employee well-being.
