Ex-Official Detained Over Alleged Minor Assault in West Kazakhstan
A former local government official in the Shyngyrlau district of West Kazakhstan has been detained on suspicion of assaulting a minor. The incident, which occurred on January 2nd, has sparked a criminal investigation and drawn attention from child rights advocates.
Investigation Details Emerge
Initial reports indicated that a man lured a minor into his home and assaulted her. The West Kazakhstan police department confirmed that a criminal case was initiated under Article 120 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, pertaining to the sexual assault of a minor.
Conflicting Accounts Surface
However, subsequent investigations revealed conflicting information. The police stated that after reviewing correspondence and other evidence, no fact of assault on a minor was established. The 16-year-old girl and her mother reportedly stated they had no complaints against the suspect and described the relationship as consensual.
