Flash Floods Wash Away Bridges in Turkistan Region, Prompting Evacuations

A sudden surge in the Akmeshit River, triggered by heavy rainfall, has led to the destruction of two temporary bridges in the Turkistan region. The incident occurred near the village of Akmeshit in the Tole Bi district, a popular tourist area.

River Overflow and Bridge Destruction

The overflowing river washed away the two temporary bridges that connected recreational and picnic areas. Additionally, a crossing near the Ekpindi village was also damaged. Emergency services were quickly deployed to the scene.

Evacuations Underway

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that 81 people were safely evacuated from the affected areas. This group included 27 children. Specifically, 11 individuals (including 7 children) were moved from the Ekpindi village, while 70 people (including 20 children) were evacuated from the recreational zone. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and no one required medical assistance.

Ongoing Response Efforts

Personnel from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Kazselezashchita service, police, and local authorities are continuing their work at the site to manage the situation and assess the damage.

Previous Incidents in the Region

This is not the first incident of its kind in the area recently. Previously, in the Kaskasu rural district, five vehicles were submerged due to road erosion, leading to the rescue of 15 people. Another rescue operation involved 10 individuals (including 3 children) from a vehicle near a ski resort.
