Residents in the eastern regions of Kazakhstan have been issued a significant weather advisory. Kazhydromet, the national meteorological service, has warned of potentially poor air quality in the cities of Ust-Kamenogorsk, Ridder, and Semey on February 25th.

Factors Affecting Air Quality

According to meteorologists, unfavorable weather conditions conducive to air pollution are anticipated in these areas. These include weak winds, fog, and temperature inversions, which can lead to the accumulation of harmful substances in the lower atmosphere.

Weather Forecast for Eastern Kazakhstan

The forecast for February 25th in the East Kazakhstan region predicts a dry day with no precipitation. Fog is possible in the northern, eastern, and southern parts of the region. Winds are expected from the northwest at speeds of 9-14 m/s. Overnight temperatures will be severe, ranging from -30 to -35 degrees Celsius, dropping to -38 degrees in the north and center, and -25 degrees in the south. Daytime temperatures will hover around -22 to -27 degrees Celsius, with some areas in the south reaching up to -18 degrees.

Specific City Forecasts

In Ust-Kamenogorsk, expect variable cloudiness with no precipitation. Fog is anticipated during the night and early morning. Winds will be light from the northwest at 1-6 m/s. Overnight temperatures are forecast between -30 and -32 degrees Celsius, with daytime temperatures around -23 to -25 degrees Celsius.

Semey will also experience variable cloudiness and dry weather. Fog may form during the night and early morning. Winds will be light from the northeast at 1-6 m/s. Overnight temperatures are predicted to be between -30 and -32 degrees Celsius, with daytime temperatures ranging from -20 to -22 degrees Celsius.

National Weather Outlook

Earlier, forecasters had indicated that a cold anticyclone from the northwest would affect most of Kazakhstan in the coming days. This is expected to cause a halt in precipitation and a sharp drop in temperatures due to the influx of Arctic cold air masses. Only the southern regions are likely to see precipitation, sometimes heavy.
