Residents of an apartment complex in Astana were thrown into a state of alarm after a man appeared in the building's entrance hall carrying an axe. Witnesses reported the individual was intoxicated at the time of the incident.

According to information received, the event unfolded within the common area of the residential building. One witness described the man, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, as having acted aggressively.

Police Intervention and Suspect Apprehension

The city's police department confirmed that a 31-year-old man was detained and brought to a police station in connection with the incident. It was determined that the man had been at a friend's apartment, where renovation work was underway.

Following a period of drinking together, the suspect reportedly picked up a construction tool and exhibited aggressive behavior. Police officers intervened to stop his unlawful actions.

Injuries and Legal Consequences

The police statement further clarified that the man later broke a glass while standing in the entrance hall, sustaining cuts to himself in the process. Medical assistance was provided to him, and no other individuals were harmed.

The man is facing administrative charges for public intoxication and petty hooliganism. A court has ordered his detention for 15 days, and he has been placed in a special reception facility managed by the Astana police.
