Almaty police have successfully dismantled a criminal group of 10 individuals suspected of involvement in serious offenses. Among those apprehended are individuals with prior criminal convictions, indicating a pattern of organized criminal activity.

Criminal Activities Under Scrutiny

The group is believed to be connected to a range of grave crimes, including violent acts involving firearms, extortion, causing severe bodily harm, and illegal arms trafficking. These allegations point to a significant threat to public safety within the city.

Seized Evidence and Weapons

During 21 authorized searches, law enforcement officials confiscated a substantial cache of weapons and items posing a risk to public security. Notably, a search at one suspect's residence yielded multiple firearms, including a sawed-off shotgun and a Kalashnikov rifle, along with ammunition. Investigations revealed these weapons were stolen from the Zhambyl Regional Police Department during the January 2022 events.

Ongoing Investigation

All suspects have been taken into custody and remanded in a temporary detention facility, with a court approving their pre-trial detention. The investigation is actively continuing to identify any further criminal activities and potential accomplices. The operation to apprehend the group members was conducted on May 8.
