Kazakhstan is set to open new schools based on Russian educational models in three of its cities, a move stemming from an agreement between the presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia. This initiative aims to deepen educational cooperation between the two nations.

The announcement was made by Alexei Borodavkin, the Russian Ambassador to Kazakhstan, who confirmed the plans for these joint educational institutions.

New Educational Hubs Planned

The new schools are slated for construction in the cities of Kyzylorda, Taraz, and Turkistan. This project is a direct result of a high-level agreement between the leaders of Kazakhstan and Russia, with a memorandum of understanding for the school construction signed during President Tokayev's visit to Russia.

'Sirius' Model to Guide Curriculum

The curriculum and educational approach for these new schools will be based on the successful model of Russia's 'Sirius' educational center. Students will engage in in-depth studies of the Russian language, mathematics, and natural sciences. Ambassador Borodavkin noted that graduates from these schools will be eligible to pursue higher education at branches of Russian universities located within Kazakhstan.

"I hope that the successful experience of 'Sirius' will serve as a guide for other educational initiatives, primarily for the implementation of our presidents' agreements on building joint schools in the cities of Kazakhstan and Russia. As for Kazakhstan, we are talking about the cities of Kyzylorda, Taraz, and Turkistan," Borodavkin stated in an interview with TASS.

Significance of the New Schools

Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin was briefed on the construction of an international 'Sirius' school in Almaty. This facility is planned to cover an area of 60,000 square meters, accommodating 600 boarding students and providing education for an additional 600 day students.
